SEO Tools Plugin for Excel – An Advanced Tutorial [VIDEO]

Estimated reading time: 1 minute

One of my favourite free SEO tools that I must use at least once a day is Niels Bosma’s SEO Tools plugin for Excel. You can do all sorts of online analysis directly within Excel via the plugin, plus you can link up to the likes of Google Analytics, Majestic SEO and SEOlytics for even more power.

Check out the full tutorial video below where I show you exactly how to carry out in-depth link analysis and also how to perform a quick on-page SEO audit of your website.

http://i.imgur.com/l4FlihP.png This is what I use for a top 10 analysis. One thing that is missing from my sheet is checking for how many missing alt tags there are with =IsFoundOnPage(TargetURL.com,”alt=”””)

(Was going to say this before you got to the analytics portion, but I’ll leave it here anyways): Just clarifying some information for those who need troubleshooting advice. When checking info on a URL, you need to use the whole exact URL that you want to check. findmyblogway.com/seo-tools-plugin-excel-tutorial/ won’t give you anything. You will need to use http://findmyblogway.com/seo-tools-plugin-excel-tutorial/

Would love a tutorial on RegEx as I am completely oblivious on how to use it.

Awesome stuff, Mitchell – I use a similar thing for my on-page audits. I generally prefer to start with Screaming Frog SEO Spider to do what you’ve shown in your comment, then I will dig deeper with the SEO Tools plugin.

Good tip with the missing alt tags though, I hadn’t thought of that!

Regarding the RegEx tutorial, I will see what I can pull together over the next month or so – will keep you informed :)
